Cuisine American
- 2 cans (21-ounce) apple pie filling
- 1 box (15.25 oz ) yellow cake mix
- 1 teaspoon apple pie spice mix
- 1 ½ sticks cold unsalted butter sliced into 24 pats
- ½ cup roughly chopped walnuts
- caramel sauce for topping
- vanilla ice cream for topping, optional
Get Ready: First, turn your oven on to 350° F. Grease your 9x13 pan and spread the 2 cans of apple pie filling evenly inside.
Add the Cake Mix: Now, sprinkle the dry 15.25 oz yellow cake mix right over the apples. Then, sprinkle 1 teaspoon of apple pie spice mix on top.
Top with Butter: Place the pats of your 1 ½ sticks of cold, sliced butter all over the cake mix, making sure to cover it well.
Time to Bake: Bake it for 30 minutes. Then, add the ½ cup of walnuts on top and bake for another 15-25 minutes until it's golden.
Serve and Enjoy: Let the cake cool for a few minutes. Then, serve it warm with a drizzle of caramel sauce and a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
-
Remember to use the cake mix dry, right out of the box. Don't add any eggs or oil to it!
-
Try not to stir the layers. This helps the cake get a crispy top and a gooey bottom.
-
For the best flavor, wait to add the caramel sauce until you are ready to serve the cake.
-
You’ll know it’s perfectly baked when the top is a beautiful golden-brown color.
-
You can store any leftovers in a covered container on the counter or in the fridge.
